SWIS 2018 May 15 Newsletter-Blog Post

Uncategorized May 16, 2018

Welcome to the SWIS 2018 newsletter/blog. This will be a weekly newsletter/blog uploaded every Tuesday to keep you updated with what is happening with SWIS 2018 on October 26-28, 2018 at the Hilton Hotel in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

If you have been to SWIS before, you know what you are in store for. If you haven't been to SWIS, then get ready for the best symposium you have seen. I have spent the last two years putting together the presenters and finding the right dates.

This newsletter is going to be a behind the scenes view of what it takes to put on an event like SWIS. The ups...the downs... and all the things that make it so educational and fun. So I am going to answer some frequently asked questions that I get either through facebook or emails.

So the first question I usually get is "Why does it take two years to put together?" Good question. Here is the answer. Because a number of the presenters are in high demand, they are usually booked a year in advance. For SWIS 2018, I had to change the date 3 times in order to get the best presenters and also being able to book all the major ballrooms at the hotel.

So I finally negotiated with the Hilton Hotel a secured date with all the ballrooms needed to put this event on. Here is the Facebook post about the signing.

"After 4 months of negotiations... changing the date 3 times due to presenter unavailability and hotel conflicts... I met today with Kris Knox of the Hilton Hotel , who was awesome to work with, I have signed off on the $50,000.00 hotel contract... now the fun begins. This is going to be epic! See you at SWIS 2018 on October 26-28. swis2018.com

Second question I get is, "It costs you $50,000.00 to put on this symposium?" No... its alot more... about 5 times more. The $50,000.00 is for the ballrooms, the hotel rooms I have blocked off for the attendees, food... etc. It does not include the presenter honorariums, (what I pay the presenters to come, which will be over $50,000.00.)... Presenter flights, hotel rooms, food, drinks, gifts..the list goes on and on. So it is an expensive event, especially since I have no sponsors and if I lose money, which I did on SWIS 2016, about $50,000.00 worth, I have to personally pay it back. That was another reason why I didn't do SWIS 2017.

Third question I am getting asked is when is registration opening? I have it scheduled to open on June 16, 2018. I am still getting presenters to confirm and will be able to give you a proper schedule by then. This also will give me enough time to properly build out the web site and shopping cart so registration is easy for you. Yeah I am personally building that too.

Fourth question is "Why are you doing all the work on SWIS 2018?" LOL...well...tough question... honest answer... I delegated a number of jobs to different people that I hired, and they either didn't do the work or did it extremely badly having me to step in and do it myself. I am slowly building a team of people that I know I can trust to do the work properly and will get the job done. In the meantime, I am doing all the work and once everything is in place, I will be able to delegate out to some awesome reliable people.

Fifth question is "How much is registration?" The "At the Door - Day of the Symposium Registration Price" will be $999.00 Canadian or about $785 US. Because you are on this newsletter, you will get advanced notice of registration opening and will be able to save $600.00 Canadian on registration. So when registration opens at a super duper early bird rate of only $399.00 Canadian or about $325.00 US. I am making it affordable for people that really want to come. The price will increase every month until the symposium. And based on all the talk and excitement, this year will sell out. I can only allow 750 attendees for SWIS 2018. So keep a watch out on your email for registration and get in early to get a seat and also the cheapest price possible.

The last question is "Who is coming to SWIS 2018?" Everyone!!! I have put on SWIS symposiums for close to 20 years...first one was in 1999... and the list of who is coming to present is incredible. This is the best SWIS Symposium I have ever done. There will be close to 60 presenters coming.
